Information and options for cabinet glass

Clear glass in cabinets is the standard and can be great to show off your fancy dinnerware or knick knacks, but when it comes to food or basic dishes some of us prefer to hide what’s behind the glass. Obscure glass is a great way to provide an updated look and hide the contents of the cabinet. Patterned or obscured glass can be used in conjunction with clear glass as well depending on the look you are seeking.

The standard thickness for glass in cabinets is 1/8″ which is light enough that your door won’t feel heavy, but thicker than single strength glass so it’s not as easily broken. There is also the option to have tempered glass in your cabinets as well. There aren’t as many obscure pattern options available in tempered glass, but tempered glass is much harder to break. Tempered glass is a safety glass and when the glass breaks it will break into little pieces to reduce the risk of injury.

Before I started working for a glass company I thought I had to go to a cabinet shop in order to get glass for my cabinets, but that is not the case. Glass company’s are the ideal place to purchase your cabinet glass as they are the direct source to the manufacturer where as cabinet shops quite often purchase glass from glass companies. Our office sells both clear annealed and tempered glass and offers in store installation of glass, for a very reasonable price, as well. If you prefer to install the glass in your cabinets yourself they are most often installed using silicone, but it depends on the material of your cabinets.

Absolutely incredible customer service! Our antique wall clock’s mirror glass broke, and we were so devastated. I reached out to Huntsville Glass Company, and they said they could fix it! I brought it in, and less than 30 minutes later they called to let me know it was already repaired. When I arrived, I found that they had replaced the mirror glass with antique mirror glass, preserving the original look and quality of our clock. I was beyond thrilled! The repair was also incredibly affordable, which I was so thankful for. I will definitely recommend Huntsville Glass Company to anyone and everyone! They have no idea just how happy I am. 😊

Let me tell you, this place is amazing! Top notch customer service! I bought a beautiful antique coffee table and needed glass inserts for the top. I took them the table, they measured and told me what would fit best, and they made sure the glass pieces were perfect. Super speedy service, quality work, and an amazing price. Highly recommend!

It's not often I use specialty shops like this, and even less that I review them (hard to review 50 different Walmart's and say something unique), but Huntsville Glass deserves a review, and your business. I went in not really knowing what I wanted, only that I had a buffet I wanted to protect. The ladies at HGC were polite, professional, and really knew their business. Rather than upsell and overcharge me, they looked at the pictures and immediately knew what would work best. I know it's their job and they probably see this 100s of times a week, but they have a way of making every customer feel like them and their project are the only thing that matters at the time. Fast, accurate, and professional. That's what you need. I'm definitely going back if I ever have another project.

Great experience today. I brought in a UNS 60L aquarium that I needed a lid for because the UNS official one was entirely too small. I worked with Anthony and Trish to talk through a two piece lid that I was going to add a hinge to (from Amazon if you're researching this same thing) and left with a great lid not even 30 minutes later. Thank you so much Anthony. Price was really reasonable and this design is far better than online acrylic options. Anthony and Trish were great, friendly people. I didn't realize how much I had missed the friendliness of a locally owned business. Everyone else there was knowledgeable, straight forward in how they dealt with other folks and friendly as well. They even had quality control on hand to validate this was a cat-proof aquarium lid. Thank you for your help Cutter. I enjoyed hanging out with you in the floor. With cats and fish species prone to jumping, I can tell I'll be coming back here for aquarium lids again.

I needed to replace a broken window in my sons garage. I had no idea of the type of glass I needed and I did not have any measurements, only a frame from the window. Update #2: True to their word, someone came back out and the experience was 10/10. I would comfortably recommend this company to anyone looking for window repair. I appreciate the owner reaching out, and will gladly use them in the future! Update: owner called and apologized and is offering to make it right. Assuming all works out, I will update to five stars. Mistakes happen, but it is how they are handled that really matters. Had 3 windows repaired. There were two employees (they were nice enough, so no complaints there). They didn't seem super confident in their abilities though, and even my wife caught on. My main issue is they allowed the old glass to be pushed through from the outside...and rather than having the other person on the inside catching the glass pieces into a box or something, it was allowed to fall to the floor, where of course it shattered. This was the case with all three windows. They said not to worry, that they would clean the glass. Well this morning I sliced my foot on a piece in the basement. And the closer I looked, the more glass I started to find. I realize that it's hard to get glass up. Which is why every measure should be taken to ensure there isn't any broken to begin with. I have children, dogs, and a cat. I'm just glad it was my foot and not one of theirs. I have a couple of other small windows in my shop I was going to get an estimate on, but now I am going to look elsewhere.
